How to download the app and sign up for an account.

① Download the Pirika App.
https://www.pirika.org/download
(Available on iOS and Android)

② Tap "Get". When it shows "Open", the installation is done.

③ Tap the icon to open the app.

④ Tap "Agree" on the Terms of Use.

⑤ Swipe the intro text to the left and tap "So let's get started".

⑥ Enter your email address.

⑦ You will get an email. Enter the 6-digit code from the email and tap "Log in".

⑧ Enter a "User name" and choose a "User type". Enter a "Password" and tap "Done" to finish.

Log in to an existing account

How to carry over your existing account when you use Pirika on a new device.

① Download the Pirika App.

② Tap "Get". When it shows "Open", the installation is done.

③ Tap the icon to open the app.

④ Tap "Agree" on the Terms of Use.

⑤ Swipe the intro text to the left and tap "So let's get started".

⑥ Enter your email address and tap "Log in with email".

If you forgot your password, click here.

If you forgot your password, enter your email address and tap "Forgot password?". You will get an email,
so enter the 6-digit code from the email and set a new password.

Set or change your user information

You can change your user information and password after signing up. Here is how.

① Tap the account icon at the top left.

② Tap the icon again.

③ Set or change your user name, description and user type.

④ From the three dots at the top right, you can "Switch account" or set your password.

Switch accounts

If you have more than one account, switch between them as follows.
* Activity records are counted and shown for each account. They are not added together across accounts.

① Tap your icon at the top left

② Tap "..." at the top right of your profile page

③ Tap "Switch account"

④ Choose the account you want to use and tap "Log in with this account"

Post your litter picking

Post your activity

How to post your litter-picking activity.

① Tap the tongs icon on the Map or Timeline tab.

② Allow camera access. Take a photo with "Camera" at the bottom left, or choose one from "Library" at the bottom right.

* You can select up to 8 photos from the three vertical dots at the bottom right of the photo.

③ Enter the number or amount of litter, the date and time, and the number of people. Add a hashtag (#) to your comment to search for it later.

④ Enter the location if you like.

⑤ Check your post and tap "Post".

Edit or delete a post

How to edit or delete your own posts.

① Find the post you want to edit or delete, for example on your profile, and tap it to see the details.

② Tap the three dots at the top right.

③ Tap "Edit" or "Delete" at the bottom.

Connect with other users

Send Thanks or comments

You can show other users your appreciation.

① Tap the handshake icon on a post to send "Thanks".

② Tap a post to see its details. You can send a comment from the bottom of the page.

Find posts on the map

On the map, you can see where litter has been picked up so far.

① On the Map tab, you can find posts near a place. The posts update each time you change the map area.

② Tap a sparkle icon on the map to see the post details.

Search by hashtag

You can see all posts with the same hashtag.

① Enter a hashtag with the magnifier icon at the top right, or tap a hashtag on any post.

② A list of posts with the hashtag appears.

③ You can see the total number of "Thanks", the "Degree of influence on others" and the total number of litter picked up for the hashtag, with a trend graph.

* You can also see a list of the people who posted.

④ The latest posts with the hashtag appear on the map. Posts with location turned off appear at Tokyo Station (Japan) on the map.

See notifications about your activity

You can see reactions to your posts and other news.

① Check "Reaction to your post" with the bell icon at the top left. If you have unread notifications, the bell shows a red dot.

② You are notified of reactions to your posts, comments on events you joined, and more. Unread notifications have a yellow background.

③ Tap "Seen" at the top right to mark all notifications as read.

Events

Create an event

Create an online or in-person event and invite people to join.

① Tap "Events" at the bottom right of the screen.

② Tap the blue "+" button at the bottom right.

③ Enter the event details. (You can create an event without an image.)

④ For the event format, check the "?" icon on the right before choosing.

⑤ If you add a hashtag to the description, it is added automatically to participants' posts.

* If you do not add a hashtag, the event title is used as the hashtag and added to participants' posts.

⑥ The event can run for up to 31 days.

⑦ Tap "Create" to finish.

Join an event

You can join official events and events created by other users.

① Tap "Events" at the bottom right of the screen.

② Choose an event from "Recommended" or "All". (If you chose from "Recommended", go to step ⑥. If you chose from "All", go to step ③.)

③ To narrow down the "All" list, tap the "Filter" button at the bottom right.

④ Enter your filter conditions and tap "Apply".

⑤ Tap the event you want to join from the filtered list.

⑥ On the event page, tap "Participate".

⑦ When it changes to "Participating", you have joined.

Groups

What you can do with groups

Group members can connect more closely.
On the group page, you can see the group's events, a notice board and posts from followers.
Followers are notified of new events and new notice board topics, so they can follow the group's activity.
You can show the groups you follow in "Recently joined groups" on your profile, from your user information settings.

Create a group

Create a group and share information with your friends.

① Tap the + button on the Group tab.

② Enter a group image, name and description, then tap "Create".

③ After creating the group, you can get its URL from < at the top right and share it with other users.

Connect in a group

Follow a group to join its notice board and events.

① Open the page of a group you like and tap "Follow group".

② Posts you make while following appear in "Posts from followers".

③ Comment on notice board topics or join events created in the group.

④ You can create an event with the "+" at the bottom right of the group. It appears in the group and in the Events tab.

⑤ You can start a topic with the "+" at the bottom right of the group. It appears on the group's notice board.

Use litter spot information

Show litter spots

Places with a lot of litter, found by Takanome (car version), our litter survey service, can be seen on the map. Here is how.

* Litter spot images were taken with the help of various companies and local governments. We check the AI detections before posting them.
* Litter spot images show data from one point in time, so they may differ from the current situation. Thank you for understanding.

Tap the "Litter spots" button at the bottom right of the map to turn it on. (The button turns blue.)

"Litter spots" (places where litter is likely) show a red litter icon. "Cleaned spots" (places where other users already picked up litter) show a green sparkle icon.

In the list at the bottom, you can see images taken at litter spots.

To go back to a map with only litter-picking posts (litter spots hidden), tap the "Litter spots" button again to turn it off. (The button turns white.)

See litter spot details

How to see the details of a litter spot.

Tap the "Litter spots" button at the bottom right of the map to turn it on. (The button turns blue.)

Tap a red litter icon, then tap the speech bubble, to see the spot details (images taken there, the latest posts, and more).

Tap "Go to this place" to open the map app on your smartphone. (If no map app is installed or it is turned off, a web browser opens.)

If you pick up litter there, tap "I picked up litter" and record your activity.

If there is a problem with the spot information, for example you cannot find litter, report it with the "Report a problem" button.

Report a problem with a litter spot

If there is a problem with a litter spot, for example you cannot find litter, you can report it. Here is how.

Tap the "Litter spots" button at the bottom right of the map to turn it on. (The button turns blue.)

Tap a red litter icon, then tap the speech bubble, to see the spot details (images taken there, location, the latest posts, and more).

If there is a problem with the spot information, for example you cannot find litter, tell us with the "Report a problem" button.

Select all items that apply. Add details in the comment box at the bottom.

Tap "Report a problem" to send your report.

Post your activity at a litter spot

How to post when you picked up litter at a litter spot.

Tap "I picked up litter" on the litter spot details screen.

Tap "Add litter photos" at the top of the screen.

Allow camera access. Take a photo with "Camera" at the bottom left, or choose one from "Library" at the bottom right.

* You can add up to 8 photos from the three vertical dots "⋮" at the bottom right of the photo.

Enter a comment if you like. Add a hashtag (#) to your comment to search for it later.

Select how much litter was left after you cleaned up. Choose the option that fits.

Enter the number or amount of litter, the date and time, and the number of people.

Enter the location if you like.

Check your post and tap "Post" at the top right.

Share a litter spot

You can share a litter spot with friends by URL or QR code. Here is how.

On the details screen, tap the share icon at the top right.

Choose "Show QR code" or "Share URL".

You can share it by email or on social media. (* Some apps may not support sharing the QR code.)

Other

Report illegal dumping

If you find illegal dumping, you can report it with its location and photos of the site.

* Reports are stored as data and used to help create a better environment.
(Reports are shared with local governments that use our illegal dumping report service, but we cannot guarantee that any action will be taken.)

Slide the tongs icon at the bottom right upward to open the report feature.

Allow camera access and take a photo of the site with "Camera" at the bottom left. (If you already have a photo, choose it from "Library".)

Move the map, put the pin on the place where you found illegal dumping, and tap "Report this location".

Enter the required details: type of litter, date and time, contact information, and so on. A comment is optional, but please add any details you know, such as the amount and size of the litter and whether the site is private land.

Check your report. If it is correct, tap "Report" at the top right to send it.

When you see the message above, your report has been sent.

Sign up for a new account

How to sign up for an account.

① Go to https://www.pirika.org/login and click "Sign up with email".

② Read the Terms of Use and click "Agree".

③ Enter your email address and a password, then click "Send verification code to email".

④ Enter the verification code sent to your email and click "Submit".

⑤ Enter a "User name", choose a "User type", and click "Submit".

Log in to an existing account

How to log in again if you already signed up on the web.

① Go to https://www.pirika.org/login, enter your email address and password, and click "Log in with email".

② When you log in, you see a world map with litter-picking posts from many places.

③ If you forgot your password, click "Forgot password?".

④ Enter your email address and click "Submit".

⑤ Enter the verification code sent to your email.

⑥ Set a new password and click "Submit". Your password is now reset.

Set or change your user information

You can change your user information after signing up. Here is how.

① While logged in, click the account icon at the top right.

② Click "Set user information".

③ Set or change your icon, user name, email address, user type and profile, then click "Submit".

① Open "Map" or "Timeline" and click the tongs button at the bottom right.
